Terms of Service

HitLink is run by Janid Inayat, a sole trader in Sweden ("we"). HitLink turns long web addresses into short links. Paddle, our reseller, handles payment, VAT and invoices.

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.

The service

HitLink creates short links and shows visit counts. We check the page against safety lists. If a list reports the page as dangerous, we don't shorten it. If a check can't run, the link is created and marked check pending, and we keep checking. The service is in private beta. Features can change. Free short links use htlk.link. Starter includes 1 custom domain and Pro includes 5. A custom domain must be a subdomain, such as go.example.com. An API is not available yet. Once a custom domain shows Active, visitors can open its short links over HTTPS.

Plans

Free is $0 and includes up to 100 links at a time on htlk.link, with up to 20 new links a day. Starter is $9 a month or $90 a year (save $18) and includes up to 2,500 links at a time, plus 1 custom domain. Pro is $19 a month or $190 a year (save $38) and includes up to 25,000 links at a time, plus 5 custom domains. Prices are in US dollars, plus VAT where applicable. Deleting a link frees up room for a new one. If you have more links than a plan allows, the links you already have on htlk.link keep working. You can't add new ones until you delete some or upgrade. If you have more custom domains than the new plan includes, the extra domains keep working for 24 hours after the change, then they pause. The links stay saved. They start working again when you upgrade or remove domains until you are within the plan. A paid plan starts only after Paddle confirms the payment.

Acceptable use

Do not use HitLink for phishing, malware, scams, spam, or any unlawful page. We may turn off a link or an account that is used that way. If a later check reports a page as dangerous, we block the short link and mark it blocked for safety. If you think that is a mistake, use the contact form.

Accounts

You must give a working email address and keep the password private. Signup is by waitlist or invite. We can suspend an account that breaks these terms. Deleting a link is permanent: visitors see "This link was removed by its owner", and that short link is never reused. A free account that is not signed in to, and is not used through the API, for 12 months is emailed. You then have 30 days to log in. If you do not, we pause the account: the dashboard is locked and the short links still work. Logging in turns it back on. If you still do not log in for another 6 months, we delete the account. The short links then stop working and their data is erased. A paid plan that is still running is not paused for inactivity. A signup whose email is never confirmed is deleted after 30 days.

Paid subscriptions

Paid plans renew automatically every month or year. Paddle charges your payment method on each renewal until you cancel. You can cancel any time on the billing page. You keep the paid plan until the end of the period you've paid for, then the account moves to Free. Links on htlk.link keep working. Custom domains keep working for 24 hours after the account moves to Free, then they pause. The links stay saved. Cancelling does not refund the current period by itself. A full refund of any payment is available within 30 days, as described in the refund policy.

Moving to a larger plan, or from monthly to yearly, starts immediately. Unused time on the current plan is credited toward the new one, and any charge is shown before you confirm. Moving to a smaller plan, or from yearly to monthly, waits until the next renewal date. You keep the current plan until then. If the new limit is lower than the number of links you have, the existing links on htlk.link keep working and new links are blocked until you are under the limit. Extra custom domains keep working for 24 hours after the new plan starts, then they pause. The links stay saved.

You can update the payment method and view invoices in the Paddle customer portal. Paddle's buyer terms also apply to the payment. We will give at least 30 days' notice before a price change for an existing subscription.

Liability

Visit counts are estimates. Safety checks can miss a harmful page or flag a harmless one. The service is provided as available during the beta.

Law

These terms are governed by Swedish law. If you're a consumer, you also keep the protections of the law where you live, and you can bring a claim in your local courts.
